Susi+Ueli Berger. Kunst am Bau und im öffentlichen Raum 1968–2008

Working collaboratively or on their own, the graphic designer Susi Berger-Wyss (1938–2019) and artist and designer Ueli Berger (1937–2008) have created a multifaceted artistic and design oeuvre that spans graphic design, painting, sculpture, as well as furniture that has attained the status of the classic. One central concern in their practice was art in construction and in public spaces as well as colour and signal concepts. Creating up to 120 drafts and 70 finished works, they shaped this field in Switzerland for five decades. Among the most famous works are Chribel (1986), which is located in front of the headquarters of the Swiss insurance company Mobiliar in Bern; the now sadly no longer extant Hommage an das Milchgässli (1982) in front of the Bern train station; and the play sculptures in Baar and Gümligen (1971). For the first time this side of the work of Susi and Ueli Berger will be roundly celebrated and honoured with a large-scale exhibition and an accompanying publication.
